Interview with Chris Barker of the White Wives

Chris '#2' Barker is a friendly guy, and has consistently played in bands that make music that has a lot to say. Instead of asking him thirty questions he's been asked before, I asked him one question, and will let his music do the rest of the speaking. Check out the White Wives HERE.

What is the role music has played in your life?

Chris - Good grief. The hard part about that question is that, you know, I can take off and put on several hats to answer that question. I could take off the hat that is the fact that I've played in bands my entire life. Since I remember music being important, I've been trying to express myself musically. Or you could look at the fact that my brother, who lived a different lifestyle than many people live, was being chased by the cops when I was nine years old, and I heard from his stereo NWA's 'F@#$ the Police', and I was like 'Yeah, f@#$ the police, they're chasin' my brother.' I was able to associate with music with an agenda from a very young age.

The realest thing music has done is it has brought me real relationships. It's pretty crazy that at this point in my life I can travel to pretty much any city on the globe, and I can find someones house to crash at, and I'll get these worldly experiences because when I was 15 my uncle taught me a g chord on the guitar. It's pretty amazing to me.

The simple answer is that it has been giving me the opportunity to create relationships with people based off of writing songs, and meeting and connecting with these people and realizing were not so different. Based on that, I've become friends with so many people.
